NATO and Russia once again failed to agree on missile defense deployment in Europe

There is trust, but no results, commented Russia’s Defense Minister Anatoly Serdyukov on the results of the meeting of the NATO-Russia Council. It was held in Brussels yesterday. The Alliance continues to insist on the creation of two independent anti-missile systems.

In the meantime, NATO keeps claiming: there is no threat for Russia. Russia, however, is sure that the two systems can lead to a new arms race. The parties need to agree on one.

Both sides intend to continue the dialogue. The next meeting of the NATO-Russia Council will be held in July in Sochi. It is worth reminding that in the framework of the missile defense system in Europe, NATO plans to deploy radars in the Czech Republic and interceptor missiles – in Poland. These missiles will be able to reach all the territory of Russia west of the Ural Mountains.
