Thermometers in Moscow may rise to 40 degrees
Roshydromet reports that on Monday, July 26, the thermometers in Moscow will reach 35 degrees. Winds are south-east, at 2 - 7 meters per second.Temperatures closing on 40 degrees Celsius are expected in the metropolitan area throughout the week.
On Tuesday, July 27, temperatures are expected to reach 35 - 37 degrees Celsius above zero, 33 - 38 degrees in the region. On Wednesday, the weather will not change much. However, on Thursday, the thermometers will show between 36 and 39 degrees Celsius above zero. For Friday, the forecast is 31 to 35 degrees with light winds.
In June, 2 new temperature records were set in Moscow. In July, there have already been 6 such records.
In the history of weather observations, the hottest summer day record was set in the second decade of the XX century. On August 7, 1920 the air temperature went up to 36.8 degrees.
Last Saturday, July 24, we were just 0.1 degrees short of a recurrence of this record. However, the forecasters predict the hottest day of summer to occur in late July. It may fall on July 31 or earlier. Then the earlier record of the 130-year history of weather observations will be cracked.
