Thousands of people unable to fly from airport Vnukovo, Moscow, due to cancellations of two and delays of six flights

Thousands of passengers were unable to fly from Vnukovo airport because of the cancellation of two and a delay of six airline Sky Express flights. Some of them were forced to return the tickets and to fly other flights. The rest were lodged at a hotel. The airline representatives offered luncheon vouchers four hours after the alleged departure of the aircraft.

According to a Sky Express representative, the delays were caused by malfunctioning of two aircraft of the company. In fact, the airport information desk confirmed that the flights had been canceled by the airline itself.

Sky Express is the first Russian low-budget airline, founded in 2006. It is based at Moscow's Vnukovo airport. According to the number of passengers in 2009, it took 10th place in the country according to the airline and 13th according to the Federal Air Transport Agency. As of July 1, 2010, the Sky Express fleet consisted of 9 aircraft of Boeing 737 type manufactured in a single-class economy layout.
