In two years, Moscow can receive first electric buses
In two years, first electric buses may appear in the streets of Moscow, the head of the Department of Science and Industrial Policy of the capital, Evgeny Panteleev told reporters on Thursday."The city authorities are willing to fund unique innovations, including the creation of environmentally friendly transport. At present we are developing jointly with the Ministry of Industry and Ministry of Education programs to produce electric buses. This program may be secured with an appropriate agreement. In 2011, we want to create around seven models of electric bus. I think that electric buses will start running in Moscow in 2012", said Panteleev.
Electric bus is a hybrid of bus and trolleybus. The small type of electric bus shown above can accommodate about 30 seats and will operate on battery power.
