Hillary Clinton arrives in Yerevan

The U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has paid a visit to Yerevan. The main issue discussed in a meeting with Armenia's Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian was the question of establishing relations between Armenia and Turkey.
  
"We are pleased that Armenia has decided to continue the process of normalizing relationships with Turkey if the Turkish side expresses its readiness. Now it is up to Turkey. The ball is in their court", said Clinton.
  
The U.S. Secretary of State has also expressed hope that the Armenian-Turkish protocols signed in Zurich October 10, 2009, will be implemented soon.
  
Hillary Clinton arrived in the Azeri capital of Baku on the night of Sunday, July 4, in the frames of her trip to Eastern Europe and the Caucasus. There she has met with President Ilham Aliyev and Minister of Foreign Affairs Elmar Mamedyarov.
  
The purpose of the meeting is discussion of regional issues which include the problem of Nagorno-Karabakh – the Azerbaijani enclave populated mainly by Armenians.
  
"I think that the U.S. authorities are aware of the importance of Azerbaijan, and from this point of view we can expect that after the visit of the Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in Baku, our cooperation will reach a new level", said the head of the foreign relations department of the presidential administration Novruz Mamedov.
  
In Azerbaijan, there are hopes for further development of relations between Azerbaijan and the U.S.
