Russia delivers 130 metric tons of emergency humanitarian aid to Osh, Kyrgyzstan
June 17, 2010 is the second day of mourning for the victims of the unrest in the south of Kyrgyzstan in the city of Osh.On Wednesday, June 16, three Russian aircraft delivered additional humanitarian aid for the injured, which includes foodstuff, medicines and clothes. The cargo gross weight is 130 tons.
At present, the cargo is stored in the warehouses of the Southern Group of Armies of the Ministry of Defense of Kyrgyzstan. The Russia's consul in the city of Osh, Jury Burov, has emphasized that it is necessary to wisely distribute the humanitarian aid and to assist first of all the most helpless and needy.
ODKB (Collective Security Treaty Organization) assists Kyrgyzstan in revealing the instigators of recent disorders in the south of the country, the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Russia, Sergey Lavrov, has said.
All in all, the law enforcement bodies of Kyrgyzstan have arrested 38 riot participants in the south of the country. 60 criminal cases have been initiated.
On suspicion of organization of mass riots in the south of Kyrgyzstan, the member of the party Ak-Zhol Pajzullabek Rakhmanov supporting ex-president Kurmanbek Bakiev has been detained, the press-service of the Commandant of Dzhalalabad area, Kubatbek Baibolov, reports. The arrested person is Kurmanbek Bakiev's ardent supporter and has already started to confess.
The Chairman of provisional government of the republic, Roza Otunbaeva, has declared three-day mourning.
As a result of regrettable events in Kyrgyzstan, the provisional government of the country has decided to declare three-day mourning in honor of the lost citizens. On June 16, 17 and 18, the citizens of Kyrgyzstan will bewail the departed souls.
At the places where the deaths occurred, street memorials are organized. People bring flowers and pray.
According to unofficial data, during the June disturbance in the south of the country, about one and a half thousand people got hurt, of which 191 were killed.
The country authorities have also reported about 100 thousand refugees, who are mainly citizens of Uzbekistan.
As it is known, the international conflicts between the Kirghiz and Uzbeks started to break out in the city of Osh on June 11, in the evening. A state of emergency and a curfew were imposed in the country in response to the events.
