Missile Liner successfully launched from Barents Sea

A ballistic missile Liner was successfully launched from the Barents Sea to a Kamchatka Peninsula range, said the Russian Defense Ministry official, Colonel Igor Konashenkov.

"The Liner missile was launched from the nuclear submarine Tula from the Barents Sea to the Kura missile range in Kamchatka. The launch took place in normal mode. At a set time, the head of the missile successfully reached the target area", said Konashenkov according to Interfax.

According to Konashenkov, the Liner missile has similar flight characteristics with sea-based ICBMs Sineva (SS-N-23 Skiff as per NATO classification), which has an extended range and better facilities to break the antimissile barriers of BMD.

"The successful missile firing aimed at the Kura range in Kamchatka was made by the crew of Captain 1st Rank Arcady Navarsky as part of the Liner ballistic missile test", said Konashenkov.

As reported by the newspaper Vzglyad (View), the sea-based strategic missile Liner, whose flight tests successfully began on 20 May, can carry 9 to 12 combat units of small capacity, which exceeds the combat equipment of Bulava missiles.

"The Liner’s perfect mass-energy ratio exceeds all modern solid-fuel strategic missiles in Britain, China, Russia, USA and France", the report says. "And its combat equipment (four medium capacity units) is not inferior to one of the American four-unit ICBM Trident-2".
