Shoigu names causes of plane crashes
The main problem of Russian aircraft is in the irresponsibility of the workers in the industry, says the chief lifeguard of Russia, Sergei Shoigu. He believes that the reason for most recent air crashes is "the mess in the aviation companies". The head of the Ministry of Emergency Situations stated this in his speech at the VI All-Russian media forum of the United Russia party.Shoigu sees the introduction of cast-iron discipline in this area as the only way to ensure the safety of aviation. Any irregularity in the industry, in his opinion, should be punished severely.
"I believe that aviation requires gravest discipline", said Shoigu, noting that the disaster in Yaroslavl was 67th in the 20 years he has been working in emergency situations.
The head of the ministry recalled several instances in which the tragedies were caused by elementary human carelessness.
"For instance, in the north, a plane was landing while a helicopter was taxing out, and the guy sitting in the control tower was just drinking tea, having turned his back on everything, and did not stop neither the aircraft, nor the helicopter. As a result, the helicopter chopped off the legs of the whole [airplane] crew", remembered Shoigu.
The minister named the moral dimension as another important aspect for bringing order to the sphere of security.
"We must enhance our society's morality, because we are moving farther and farther aside: "it didn’t affect me, so let it ride". We do not flinch any more when they report that a certain station has been mined. Well, that’s okay with us: let it be mined, after all, but few people are really concerned about the fact that life has stalled there and all people have to be evacuated", said Sergei Shoigu.
